What is an X-Ray?
X-ray (radiography) is a quick scan that uses a very small dose of radiation to create images of the inside of your body, and the scan itself does not hurt. It is mainly used to check bones and joints, but can also show the chest and other areas.
How an X-ray works
During an X‑ray, a controlled beam passes through your body and is captured by a digital detector. Dense structures like bone appear white, while softer tissues appear in shades of grey. Most exams take just a few minutes and need no special preparation.

Is it safe?
As general information from radiology bodies: the radiation dose from a medical X-ray is small and carefully controlled, similar to what you receive naturally from the environment over a few days or weeks. Licensed centres must follow radiation protection rules that keep the dose as low as reasonably achievable.
X-ray prices in Sharjah and Dubai
X-rays from AED 130 per view in Dubai (AED 110 in Sharjah). You pay per view, and your doctor's request usually sets how many views are needed; a chest X-ray is usually one or two views. If the radiologist recommends extra views on the day, the centre explains the change and the cost first. Before your X-ray
Most X-rays need no fasting or other preparation. Wear clothes without metal zips, buttons or underwire over the area being checked, and remove jewellery. Tell the centre and the radiographer if you are, or might be, pregnant before any images are taken. Bring your doctor's referral, if you have one, and your insurance card if you are claiming.
Referral and insurance
Some X-rays can be booked without a referral, and the centre tells you if yours needs one. Insurers usually need a doctor's referral to cover the cost, and we confirm the price before you go.
